Control Point IT exists because mid-sized manufacturers deserve the same caliber of IT leadership the Fortune 500 takes for granted — scaled to a budget and a footprint that actually fit.
Most IT consultants have never had to keep a plant running.
I started as a journeyman electrician. That meant learning, hands-on, how production environments really behave — the machines, the wiring, the consequences when something on the floor goes down. Then I moved into IT and spent sixteen years managing systems at a Fortune 500 process manufacturer.
That combination is rare. I've stood in both worlds: the server room and the shop floor. I know what enterprise-grade IT looks like at scale, and I know how to translate it to a mid-sized company that can't justify a full department — or a six-figure IT director.
Along the way I picked up SAP implementation and quality experience in regulated environments, where traceability and documentation aren't optional. I also wrote a book, AI for Old Guys (and Gals), because adopting new technology shouldn't require a computer-science degree or a leap of faith.
Control Point IT is built on one idea: the best technology advice for a manufacturer is safe, practical, and boring. Not cutting-edge for its own sake. Not rip-and-replace. Just solid foundations, clear priorities, and systems that won't surprise you.
No jargon designed to make you feel out of your depth. No fear-selling. I'll tell you what's actually a risk, what can wait, and what you can fix yourself without paying anyone. The goal is for you to feel in control of your technology — which is the whole point of the name.
Ninety minutes, a written Risk Snapshot, and an honest recommendation.
